Description and Features
BM-R260 acrylic emulsion polymer is designed to be used in release coatings for masking tapes. It offers tape manufacturers the application advantages of water-based systems thus avoiding the air pollution, odor, toxicity, and flammability problems associated with solvent-borne systems. This polymer is simple to formulate, requires no catalyst, and offers the good initial release and re-adhesion characteristics that are obtained with solvent-based release systems.
BM-R260 can be coated onto flat or creped saturated backings to provide a good release surface for the natural and synthetic rubber adhesives that are typically used for making tape applications.
BM-R260 has been successfully coated onto saturated paper with varying degrees of creping using roll coaters with knife or rod metering devices as well as with air knife coaters. The product may be applied as received or in diluted form.
As is typical with most aqueous emulsion systems, BM-R260 is subject to foam generation. Free-fall and cascading of the polymer should be minimized. Your BO&BS Technical Sales Representative can assist you with selection and design of pumps and delivery systems for BM-R260.

- Can be applied to the back of a flat or wrinkled impregnated paper;
- Can be applied to paper with different wrinkles by roll coater with rollers or scrapers;
- Used directly or diluted; Sometimes thickeners and/or defoamers are added;
- We recommend a coating weight of 5-6g/m2, and the user can adjust the coating amount according to the type of substrate, the content of the substrate saturants, etc., to obtain satisfactory performance.

A release agent R260 sample was applied to saturated crepe paper using a 15 μm bar coater and dried at 120 ° C for 1 minute. Then placed in 23±1 0C, 50±5% RH for 2hrs, then making a sample.
Gently press the standard test tape along the machine coating direction on the release surface, the length is 175mm. Then use a 2kg pressure roller to roll the sample back and forth 3 times at a speed of 10mm/s.
Make 2 samples each one, one was placed at 23±1 °C, 50±5% RH for 20 minutes; The other was baked in an oven at 70±5 0C for 24 hrs, then placed in an environment of 23±1 0C, 50±5% RH for 4 hrs before implement a peel force testing.
